While often seen as an overlooked program, the Mississippi State football team has a pretty proud history and has done well to make it to a number of bowl games (that’s especially true for MSU over the past decade or so).
The Mississippi State Bulldogs have played in 26 bowl games (as of 2023) with the first bowl appearance for Miss. State coming all the way back in 1937. And while that’s not as many as MSU fans would want, the Bulldogs have done fairly well to establish themselves as a regular bowl game attendee since Dan Mullen rebuilt the program.
State has attended 13 bowl games in a row, setting the MSU football program up for having one of the longest bowl game streaks in the country.

That streak has survived multiple coaching changes, a global pandemic, and various other significant changes for the Mississippi State football team. It’s also included wins over coaches who have changed the landscape of modern college football and a Heisman winner.
Of course, as with everything Mississippi State, not everything about the bowl streak or MSU’s bowl history is great. There have been some let downs as well as gut-wrenching, heartbreaking moments.
But that kinda comes with the territory of loving the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
