Zach Arnett and his Mississippi State football team get to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks this week. Let’s learn more about the Miss. State Bulldogs’ foe for week four.

Welcome, Bulldog fans, to the 2023 Mississippi State football season. Each week, I am going to attempt to come up with five insightful, ground-breaking, thought-provoking, mind-boggling, and downright original questions.

Then, I will send them, with minimal notice, to a blogger that covers whoever MSU is set to play that week so that you can get to know who will be on the opposing sidelines when kickoff comes around.

I’ll learn something, you’ll learn something, we’ll laugh together, it’ll be a great time.

Week 4 – Mississippi State football Vs. South Carolina Gamecocks

This week we have Kevin Miller from Garnet and Cocky to help us out with some insight into the program in Columbia, South Carolina.

Let’s Go!

Evan Ertel:This college football season has already been an adventure through almost the first month. South Carolina went out last weekend and gave the two-time defending National Champions a scare at home in Athens.

How much of that performance were Gamecock fans expecting, or does Head Coach Shane Beamer continue to impress against top competition?

Kevin Miller: There is a surprising amount of confidence from Gamecock fans considering the team is 0-2 in its two matchups with Power-5 opponents. South Carolina looked pretty good in one of those losses (Georgia) and pretty bad in the other (North Carolina).

Gamecock fans rarely have expectations about specific games because of the inconsistency over the years. However, in a macro sense, optimism is high among the Carolina Faithful because the Beamer era has been full of overachievement. Year three will go a long way in determining whether that optimism will continue to grow or if old “chicken curse” negativity returns.
