Saturday afternoon was pretty rough for Zach Arnett and his Mississippi State football team as the MSU Bulldogs fell hard at home against the LSU Tigers.

Things didn’t go well for Zach Arnett and the Mississippi State football team. Arnett and his Bulldogs suffered a loss for the first time together and it was in an incredibly frustrating and embarrassing fashion.

Mississippi State was simply no match for the LSU Tigers as the Bulldogs fell flat and lost 41-14 with over 60,000 folks present in Davis Wade Stadium.

The Bulldogs were overmatched in this matchup and fell behind early. Miss. State’s offense never found any rhythm and the Bulldogs only managed to convert on three of their 13 third down attempts.

That won’t win many games.

Mississippi State football vs. LSU Tigers recap: Bulldogs fall hard at home against LSU

This was a comprehensive loss for the Bulldogs. The only thing that really went well for MSU was special teams. Other than that, things didn’t go well for State. The Tigers dominated the line of scrimmage and were able to handle MSU’s pass rush efforts AND the pass protection.

And it didn’t really seem all that difficult for them.

On top of that, LSU’s quarterback Jayden Daniels ended up completing a remarkable 88 percent of his passes while throwing for 361 yards and running for 64 yards. Oh, and he scored four total touchdowns.

On the other end of things, Will Rogers only managed to complete 11 of 28 pass attempts and threw for just 103 passing yards. And Rogers was sacked on four different occasions. Woody Marks and Tulu Griffin had a few bright moments, but it certainly wasn’t enough for MSU to overcome what the Tigers were doing on offense.

This was a humbling performance for Mississippi State and the Bulldogs won’t have much of an easy time next week as they face off against the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia, South Carolina.

This doesn’t have to be the end of MSU’s season, but Arnett, along with Kevin Barbay and Matt Brock, will need to find a way to get the Bulldogs focused and moving in the right direction.
