Mississippi State football star wide receiver and return specialist Lideatrick “Tulu” Griffin is getting some recognition from the ESPN preseason All-America Team.

As Mississippi State football enters into the 2023 season, star wide receiver and return specialist Lideatrick “Tulu” Griffin is getting plenty of recognition from the self-proclaimed worldwide leader in sports for the dynamic and explosive talent that he is.

Going into the 2023 Mississippi State football season, Tulu Griffin has earned his way onto the 2023 ESPN Preseason All-America team.

Griffin was chosen as a returner for the team because of his explosive ability to make plays on special teams.

It seems like just about any time that Griffin gets his hands on the ball, just about anything can happen for the Bulldogs. To quote the good folks over at ESPN: “Any time Griffin has the ball in his hands, the fun begins — unless you’re trying to tackle him.”

And they’re not wrong.

Griffin is elusive for opposing defenders and he led the nation with 613 kickoff return yards and a remarkable average of 32.3 yards per return. Griffin has also scored a touchdown on a return in each of the last two seasons.

Throughout his career so far, Griffin has racked up a total of 1,333 kickoff return yards. That’s quite a few football fields worth of yardage right there.

Griffin was a key member of Mississippi State’s deep wide receiver corps with Mike Leach and the Air Raid and he figures to be even more instrumental going forward as his experience will be key for an offensive unit that is adjusting to a new scheme and route trees.

So far, Griffin has caught 76 passes for a total of 832 yards and five touchdowns in his career. Given his seniority and explosive ability, expect him to be featured heavily as the Bulldogs go into 2023. There’s no way that new offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay doesn’t find a way to feature him this season.

Mississippi State football will face off against Southeastern Louisiana on September 2. It’ll be interesting to see how Barbay gets him involved then.
