Despite the way that some perceive Starkville and Mississippi State University, it’s a pretty great place. And Mississippi State football’s Jo’Quavious “Woody” Marks seems to agree.

While many are quick to overlook the hidden gem that is Starkville, Mississippi (and Mississippi State University), those who know the university and actually give the town a fair chance tend to fall in love with it. And that seems to be the case with Mississippi State football running back Jo’Quavious “Woody” Marks.

During SEC Media Days, Marks was asked about Starkville, Mississippi State, and what make the two special and appealing for those who haven’t been.

Marks was quick to point out the community’s charm and hospitality.

“It’s very unique. I’ll say downtown, downtown Starkville is a very unique place,” Marks said, according to ASAP Sports. “We’ve got a lot of places to go eat. We’ve got places to go just chill out.”

Marks has immersed himself in Mississippi State football, Mississippi State University, and the city of Starkville. He sure appears to be a pretty big fan of the place.

It’s hard to blame him.

The town’s warm, inviting atmosphere provides a place for Mississippi State students to unwind and enjoy. And the campus has a similarly welcoming atmosphere. That cozy, easygoing vibe seen in Starkville is also observable on MSU’s picturesque campus

“The campus is very nice. You can sit in the middle of campus and just read books or just lay there and watch the sky or something,” Marks explained.

In addition to the campus’ beauty and tranquil spaces, there’s a pretty healthy love for man’s best friend in Starkville and at Mississippi State.

“Play with your dogs. People are very kind with their dogs out there. They love dogs out there. That’s one thing I know about Starkville. And their food is pretty nice.”

That’s a solid, ringing endorsement for Mississippi’s College Town.

Sure, it’s worth noting that Marks is probably a little biased here (and everyone here at Maroon and White Nation is as well), but Starkville is a pretty great place. Enjoy a quiet pace of life and plenty of places to relax. Eat some great food and enjoy a great community.
