Mississippi State football is being led by a new head coach with Zach Arnett, but it seems like Jaden Crumedy is feeling plenty positive about Arnett’s leadership.

Following the passing of Mike Leach, the Mississippi State football team turned to Zach Arnett and entrusted him to lead the Bulldogs forward. There have been plenty of drastic changes for Arnett and MSU, but it sure seems like plenty in the program are trusting what their new head coach is capable of.

During SEC Media Days, it was clear that a member of Arnett’s defensive line believed the Bulldogs had a great head coach.

“It’s been real fun because, for one, having him already as a defensive coordinator, I already knew he was like a hard coaching coach,” Jaden Crumedy said, according to the ASAP Sports transcript. “So he was already doing that as a head coach, but like he shows love. Like it’s really just been fun being with him.”

Crumedy, an experienced defensive lineman, had more than enough glowing praise for new Arnett and his coaching style. Of course, it likely helps that Crumedy has played under Arnett over the past few seasons.

And it makes sense that he’d be excited to see what Arnett can do now leading the entire program.

The junior lineman went on to describe Arnett’s explosive and determined presence on the practice field.

“He’s already being like a hard coaching coach, and he’s a fiery coach,” Crumedy explained. “If he wants to get something done, like whenever we’re in practice, he’s going to make sure that happens. He’s going to make sure everybody does their job. We’re going to do it to the fullest.”

Arnett was a logical choice to turn to following Leach’s tragic passing. He’s young, but has valuable experience. He’s familiar with Starkville, the SEC, and this Mississippi State football team. And it likely wouldn’t have been long before he became a head coach somewhere.

It might as well have been at MSU.

With Arnett taking over as the head coach after serving as the defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs, Crumedy and the rest of the Mississippi State football team likely have a pretty good understanding of his expectations. That should help make things easier as Arnett gets his first full season of SEC football started soon.
