With Mississippi State football promoting Zach Arnett to be the head coach of the Bulldogs and Matt Brock stepping in as defensive coordinator, how much is Brock now being paid?

Following the devastating passing of Mike Leach back in December, Zach Arnett has stepped into the role of head coach of the Mississippi State football team. Arnett thrived as the defensive coordinator in Starkville and it isn’t exactly easy to replace truly great defensive coordinators.

But, well, hopefully that’s where Matt Brock steps in.

As Arnett was promoted to head coach under tragic circumstances, Brock ensured that the Bulldogs wouldn’t miss a beat on the defensive side of things. Ultimately, he moved from just acting as a position coach for the linebackers and ended up becoming the defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs.

And so far it seems like the right sort of move for Mississippi State football. But as a first year defensive coordinator in the SEC, how much is Brock being paid?

All things considered, it’s a pretty good amount of money.

Mississippi State football coach contract: How much is Bulldogs’ defensive coordinator Matt Brock paid?

Heading into his first year as Mississippi State’s defensive coordinator, Matt Brock is receiving a salary of $800,00 a year, according to a report by the Clarion Ledger’s Stefan Krajisnik. That’s a hefty chunk of change and a significant raise from what he was receiving previously as MSU’s linebackers coach.

Brock has a ton of valuable experience, is familiar with Mississippi State and its coaching staff, and he’s young. The Bulldogs have a young core to their coaching staff and that’s exciting to see.

And it’ll be fascinating to see how Brock develops as a coach under Arnett’s guidance. Like Mississippi State’s head coach, Brock has drawn plenty of attention, here’s to hoping that he thrives and that the Bulldogs can keep him along with his success.

And of course, as the Bulldogs get more wins and Brock proves to be instrumental in MSU’s success, raises should be tossed his way. All he needs to do is help the Bulldogs win.
