Looking at the history of the Mississippi State football program, there are a couple Big 12 teams that the Bulldogs have never had the chance to meet up with.
The Mississippi State football program has been around for quite some time and while the Bulldogs have been meeting foes since the late 1800’s, there are still a number of notable programs MSU hasn’t had a chance to meet yet.
And that includes a couple programs out of the Big 12.
The Big 12, as a conference, has been able to produce some of college football’s most exciting teams, players, and offensive schemes over the past few decades.
Mike Leach got his head coaching start in the conference and pretty quickly it became a place where the Air Raid thrived. Sometimes it seems like the Big 12’s teams played basketball on grass, but that’s part of what makes the conference fun as its programs were known for lighting up scoreboards with high-powered offenses.
Mississippi State fans are pretty familiar with Leach and the Air Raid now (even if many still don’t fully appreciate what makes the system great) and the Bulldogs are knowledgeable about a number of Big 12 teams.
But MSU still hasn’t met up with everyone from the conference (even as the conference is changing things up going forward).
Mississippi State football: Big 12 teams that the Bulldogs have never played
And yes, with the changes that are coming, the Big 12 is about to add some teams to its lineup for this coming season. With the additions of the Houston Cougars, BYU Cougars, UCF Knights, and Cincinnati Bearcats and then the eventual departures of the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns, the landscape of the Big 12 is about to change dramatically.
But as of right now, there are still a couple Big 12 football programs that the Bulldogs have yet to have a chance to meet. While Mississippi State has faced Big 12 teams occasionally in bowl games or non-conference matchups over the 100+ years that the Bulldogs has fielded a football program, there remain some teams that MSU has yet to face.
And here are those programs:
