No. 1: Mississippi State fans would love it if Alabama somehow struggles with a new quarterback and LSU’s inconsistencies continued

The ideal sort of situation for Mississippi State football would truly only exist if the two powerhouse programs that run the SEC West both finding themselves having an unexpectedly rough time despite the massive amounts of talent that inhabit their respective rosters.

If the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers could some how, some way find a way to struggle (relative to their expected amounts of success), that’d be greatly appreciated.

In recent times, even in truly good and really great years for Mississippi State football (2010, 2014, 2017, etc.), it’s the teams like Alabama and LSU that tend to get in the way of the Bulldogs’ ability of breaking through in the SEC. The Bulldogs can be really, really good, but if those higher up on the food chain don’t stumble a little bit, it likely just ends with another really good year.

And while it’s fun to win 8-10 games, it’d be nice if we could get to see a true, remarkable breakthrough for MSU football.

And for something like that to happen, Mississippi State football fans will need to hope that Alabama somehow takes significant steps back after the staff turnover and NFL Draft departures. Or for Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers to stagnate after shocking everyone with some impressive performances last season.

Or both! Both would be great. We can hope for both! There’s no guarantee that any of this could happen, but hey, we can dream, can’t we?
