Mississippi State football is fresh off of a solid, nine win season. But there’s been a lot of change lately. How can the Bulldogs improve upon that?

As the 2023 college football season keeps getting closer, Mississippi State football fans sure have several reasons for feeling optimistic about the Bulldogs. While there have been a lot of changes lately following Mike Leach’s unexpected and tragic death, the Bulldogs are working to elevate what he established as they move forward.

Despite the fact that MSU is coming off a 9-4 record in 2022, it’s hard to know exactly how to set expectations for the Bulldogs going into 2023.

On one hand a new offense has been installed, but on the other hand the Bulldogs bring back one of the most experienced quarterbacks in all of college football. While MSU made notable changes to the coaching staff, Zach Arnett is still present after helping keep things steady.

If Arnett and the Mississippi State football program are going to build upon last season’s nine wins, then the Bulldogs will likely need to have some ideal circumstances take place.

None of these scenarios are a given. Some of these probably shouldn’t be all that expected, but they would certainly be welcomed.

And if Arnett is able to prove himself a truly capable and worthy successor to Leach (as Mississippi State fans are certainly hoping he can be) and Rogers and the offense are able to adapt smoothly to a new scheme, this Mississippi State team could surprise doubters.

Should that happen, this season could be a lot of fun. And if any of the following dream scenarios take place, then MSU fans will be pretty happy throughout the year.
