As we get set for the 2023 college football season, let’s take a look at the 2023 Mississippi State football schedule. Starting with Southeastern Louisiana.

The 2023 Mississippi State football season could certainly be an interesting one for the Bulldogs and their fans. The Bulldogs have experienced a ton of change in recent months and while there are key elements of last year’s 9-win team, the Bulldogs have new leadership moving forward.

It’s hard to predict how MSU will do next year. But what we can start doing is taking a look at the schedule and marking our calendars.

So, let’s start taking a look at the 2023 Mississippi State football schedule and examining when the Bulldogs play this season. Starting with the first game of the season: Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Southeastern Louisiana Lions.

2023 Mississippi State football schedule: Bulldogs vs. Southeastern Louisiana

  • Who: Mississippi State Bulldogs, coached by Zach Arnett, vs. Southeastern Louisiana Lions, coached by Frank Scelfo
  • What: First game of MSU’s 2023 season
  • When: Saturday, September 2 at 3 p.m. CT
  • Where: Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi

This game should (hopefully) be over early into the second quarter.

The Bulldogs should be able to run away with an easy win over Southeastern Louisiana and we’ll hopefully be able to see second and third string players get plenty of playing time in the second half of the game.

But what will make this contest at least a little interesting is that it’s the first game of the new offense and will really get the Arnett era of MSU football under way. We’ll get a more in depth look at how Kevin Barbay’s offense works and we’ll start to get a better idea of how Will Rogers will perform in a system that isn’t the Air Raid.

But again, this game should be an easy win for MSU. The Bulldogs shouldn’t have to open up the playbook all that much. We won’t see every trick in the book that Barbay and Arnett have. But we should see a pretty good win.
