The 2023 SEC Network Takeover schedule has officially been released and that means SEC fans are certainly going to share their opinions. Because what else is there to talk about?
Are you prepared to watch 24 hours worth of your favorite SEC team? Well, if you aren’t now is a great time to start getting ready. The 2023 SEC Network Takeover is upon us and there’s plenty of reasons to tune in.
The conference’s network took to twitter to share the schedule for each day that each SEC school will get, which is often effectively used as a long form highlight reel for events of the previous year.
Here’s how SEC fans are reacting to the schedule (it seems like folks are actually surprisingly even keel, which is great).

We had people talking about alphabetical order and why Ole Miss was listed before Mississippi State. Which, you know, it’s the offseason. We might as well talk about stuff like this. Why not? This seems important.
Ummm.. Ole Miss official name is University of Mississippi, comes before Miss State.

True but it looks dumb.

And of course, there’s another aspect of alphabetical order that has been discussed as well. This isn’t some sort of preferential or power ranking sort of ordering. It’s literally how letters and the alphabet work.
Y’all set this up alphabetically and people still thinks its a greatness order 😂

On a more serious note, a bunch of folks want Ryan Mallet tribute content, which is certainly fair. Given the circumstances, it’d be great to see the SEC Network find a way to honor him, his family and loved ones, and his legacy in the SEC.
We want Mallett games please

Ryan Mallett games and nothing else.

We’ve also got a very simple and straightforward and serious programming request. And this is something that many SEC fans can certainly get behind:
Play. Old. Football. Games.

Please. It’s all we ask. It doesn’t have to be a recap of the previous year. Play the classics that fans want to relive.
This is one of the best times of year. It’s not the best, but it’s pretty great and it is always worth watching.
Mississippi State is set for Sunday, July 9. The entire schedule has been set and is visible and ready to go. And now all you need is a lot of caffeine and some snacks and a comfy place to sit for 24 hours as you get set to watch your favorite team.
