The Mississippi State baseball team is back on the road to take on the Tennessee baseball team in Game Three of an away SEC series.
Mississippi State baseball will play three games this weekend versus the Volunteers. Game 1 was won by the Volunteers by a score of 2-1, Game 2 was won by the Volunteers by a score of 12-8, and Game 3 will be decided today.
Today’s game will have its first pitch at 1:00 p.m. CT/2:00 p.m. ET. The Diamond Dawgs look to at least grab one game from the Volunteers today.
The matchup between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers will be played at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Chris Lemonis and the Mississippi State baseball team needed to make a statement this weekend and did not turn out the way they wanted. It would still be huge if the Bulldogs could take one game from Tennessee.
The Diamond Dawgs have shown spurts of excitement, especially from their batts, in the first few games of the year. Pitching is where the Bulldogs have struggled most of this season. This weekend was no different.
Chris Lemonis is the first and only coach at Mississippi State University to win a national title, but if he doesn’t get it together soon, he might be looking at the door.
He believes this team is stacked full of talent, and they truly are at the plate, but something at the mound must be fixed.
The Tennessee Volunteers are 29-14 in this season. The Volunteers are 10-10 in conference play.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are looking to gain some momentum in today’s game vs. the Volunteers and carry that into the last three SEC series of the 2023 college baseball season.
