The Mississippi State basketball team is set to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in an SEC basketball matchup in the 2023 SEC Tournament. Today’s basketball game will tip off at 12:00 p.m. CT/1:00 p.m. ET. The matchup between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide will be played at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Here are some notes that you need to know before watching today’s Mississippi State basketball game:

Mississippi State basketball might have clinched a spot yesterday in the Big Dance, but a win today would seal the deal.

The Mississippi State basketball team is coming off a too-close-for-comfort-win vs. the Florida Gators in the first round of the SEC Tournament. With Wednesday’s win over South Carolina, the Bulldogs looked like they had secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but the loss in Nashville vs. Vanderbilt really hurt the Bulldogs’ chances. So, the Bulldogs needed to win yesterday, and they did. Mississippi State could use some cushion today by defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Mississippi State basketball team is 21-11.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are 21-11 entering today’s SEC basketball matchup. The Bulldogs finished non-conference play with only one loss on the season. Mississippi State’s eight losses are against the Drake Bulldogs, the Alabama Crimson Tide (twice), the Tennessee Volunteers (twice), the Georgia Bulldogs, the Auburn Tigers, the Florida Gators, the Kentucky Wildcats, and the Vanderbilt Commodores.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are 26-5.

This will be the first game for the Crimson Tide in the 2023 SEC Tournament. The Tide have already secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament, and they should be a one-seed.

Prediction: The Mississippi State Bulldogs were able to secure an overtime victory yesterday to probably go to the Big Dance, but today could really seal their fate. I’m not sure I can predict the Bulldogs to defeat the No. 1 seed. So, I will go with the Tide, 69-62.
