The Mississippi State baseball team is on the road to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Frisco Classic in Frisco, Texas. Mississippi State baseball will play three games this weekend versus three different opponents. Tonight’s game will be against the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the game will have its first pitch at 6:00 p.m. CT/7:00 p.m. ET. The Diamond Dawgs look to continue their momentum after winning their first and second series of the 2023 college baseball season.  The matchup between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Ohio State Buckeyes will be played at Riders Field in Frisco, Texas.

Here are some notes that you need to know before watching today’s Mississippi State baseball game:

Mississippi State baseball is coming off a huge midweek win vs. Southern Miss.

The Diamond Dawgs took a game from the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Tuesday night in Pearl, Mississippi. The Golden Eagles have been known to have a great baseball program, and the Diamond Dawgs fought back and won Tuesday night’s midweek game.

Mississippi State baseball finished last in the SEC in the 2022 college baseball season.

Last year, the Mississippi State baseball team had one of the worst seasons in recent history. What made it even worse was the Diamond Dawgs were coming off winning a national championship the year before in 2021 when they defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores.

The good thing is it would be hard for the Diamond Dawgs to have a worse year than they did last year. The Mississippi State baseball looks to turn things around from last year, and once again, make it back to Omaha.

Chris Lemonis expects to be right back in the conversation for National Champions.

Chris Lemonis is the only Mississippi State coach to ever win a national title at the university. His winning mindset should put the Diamond Dawgs right back in the conversation. One thing the Bulldogs need to fix this weekend is pitching. The batts have seemed to stay hot for every game this season.
