Chris Lemonis and the Mississippi State baseball team are off to a good start in the 2023 college baseball season. The Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated the Virginia Miltary Insitute Keydets in the first weekend series of the season, and they just took two of three from the Arizona State Sun Devils, in what some would call an upset.

Many people tend to be worried whenever the Bulldogs have dropped the three games they have lost this year. I think Bulldog fans are worried that the Mississippi State baseball program is not what it used to be, but I am going to disagree.

What makes Mississippi State a continuous top-tier baseball program this year?

Mississippi State baseball is important across the country.

The Mississippi State baseball program has some importance placed on it. Not only does Mississippi State University place importance on its baseball program, but the entire country looks at Mississippi State for new stadium updates, uniforms, and more. Mississippi State baseball is taken seriously, and that is one of the reasons it remains a top-tier college baseball program.

Chris Lemonis has the batts at a level that will make them a top-tier program.

Honestly, the Mississippi State baseball batts look better than they have looked in years. Every guy on the team has the potential to knock one out of the park or get a base hit. If the Diamond Dawgs look like this early in the season, what happens if they get “hot?”

If fielding is fixed, the Diamond Dawgs have a good shot at returning to Omaha.

It is kind of weird writing that the Mississippi State baseball team needs to fix their fielding because that has not ever seemed to be an issue, but this year there are some problems. It is very early in the season, and many times with new talent, teams struggle to get into a rhythm. If Chris Lemonis can fix these fielding problems, expect the Diamond Dawgs to make another run.
