The Mississippi State baseball team is back at Dudy Noble Field to take on the Arizona State University Sundevils in a weekend series baseball matchup. This weekend’s baseball series will have its first pitch at 4:00 p.m. CT/5:00 p.m. ET on Friday evening. The Diamond Dawgs look to continue their momentum after winning their first series of the season vs. the VMI Keydets and taking one of two from the ULM Warhawks in midweek games. The matchup between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Arizona State Sundevils will be played at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville, Mississippi.

Here are some notes that you need to know before watching today’s Mississippi State baseball game:

Mississippi State baseball won its first series of 2023.

The Diamond Dawgs took 2 of 3 from the VMI Keydets. The batts were hot for the Bulldogs all weekend long, but pitching showed some questions after game two. Although the Diamond Dawgs dropped one game, it was important for them to take the series, and they did come away with 2 out of 3.

Mississippi State baseball finished last in the SEC in the 2022 college baseball season.

Last year, the Mississippi State baseball team had one of the worst seasons in recent history. What made it even worse was the Diamond Dawgs were coming off winning a national championship the year before in 2021 when they defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores.

The good thing is it would be hard for the Diamond Dawgs to have a worse year than they did last year. The Mississippi State baseball looks to turn things around from last year, and once again, make it back to Omaha.

Chris Lemonis expects to be right back in the conversation for National Champions.

Chris Lemonis is the only Mississippi State coach to ever win a national title at the university. His winning mindset should put the Diamond Dawgs right back in the conversation. One thing the Bulldogs need to fix this weekend is pitching. The batts have seemed to stay hot for every game this season.
