Mississippi State Football unveils new helmets in honor of Mike Leach

The Mississippi State football team will play the Illinois Fighting Illini in the ReliaQuest Bowl today, January 2nd at 11:00 a.m. CT/12:00 p.m. ET. The Mississippi State Bulldogs will be playing one final game of the 2022 college football season for their pirate, Mike Leach.
It is only fitting that Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida has a pirate ship that overlooks the football field. Today, Mike Leach’s picture will be featured on that pirate ship to honor the passing of former Mississippi State football head coach, Michael Charles Leach.
Mississippi State football and Mississippi State athletics have been extremely secretive about releasing our uniforms for today’s ReliaQuest Bowl. Well, that ended today when Mississippi State Football’s Twitter account released a video unveiling the newest addition to Mississippi State’s equipment. Of course, the Mississippi State Bulldogs planned on honoring Mike Leach in today’s bowl game, but fans did not find out until the morning of January 2nd.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Illinois Fighting Illini will kick off the ReliaQuest Bowl at 11:00 a.m. CT/12:00 p.m. ET. Today’s bowl game will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The ReliaQuest Bowl will be aired on ESPN2 and ESPN streaming services.
It has been amazing to see the college football world rally around Mississippi State football and Mike Leach. Mike Leach was a blessing to the sport and to see so many teams honor him this 2022 bowl season really warms my heart and the heart of many Mississippi State fans. Today, the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Illinois Fighting Illini will have their own chance to honor former Mississippi State head football coach, Mike Leach.
