The Mississippi State football team will face off against the Bowling Green Falcons today at 11:00 a.m. CT.  Today’s game will be played at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi.

The Bowling Green Falcons are a team that can find a way to put the ball in the endzone. Bowling Green lost to Eastern Kentucky by a score of 59-57 in a seven-overtime game. The Falcons may not tack on tons of yardage, but they can find a way to score. Versus Eastern Kentucky, Matt McDonald finished the game with 5 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown. Although they lost that game, the Falcons put 57 points on the board.

The Bowling Green Falcons are coming off a huge win vs. the Marshall Thundering Herd, 34-31, in an overtime victory. What made this win a huge win? Marshall had defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish just a week before. The Bowling Green Falcons are coming to Starkville with a bit of momentum on their side after defeating the Thundering Herd just last weekend, but they received news today that might have hurt some of that momentum.

Before we kick off today’s game between the Bulldogs and the Falcons, there was some news released yesterday afternoon that seemed quite shocking. The Bowling Green head football coach, Scot Loeffler, will not be making the trip to Starkville, Mississippi with the Falcons. Chris Vannini from The Athletic released this tweet at 11:43 a.m CT on Friday.

As Vannini stated, Steve Morrison will take over the head coaching responsibilities, and Brian White looks to be the main offensive play-caller. Coach Scot Loeffler has been the head coach of the Bowling Green Falcons since 2018. It hurts to see any team make the trip without their head coach. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Scot Loeffler, and we wish him a speedy recovery.
