Mississippi State basketball moves into Top 5

The Mississippi State basketball team moved back in to the Top 5 of the AP Top 25 poll for the first time since they fell out of the Top 5 in December.

The Women’s Mississippi State basketball team keeps rolling along. The Bulldogs beat Tennessee on Sunday by 28 points. It was the largest margin of defeat against an SEC opponent in the history of the Lady Vols prestigious program and their second worst defeat overall.

The Mississippi State basketball team has come a long way. There was a time before Vic Schaefer arrived as head coach that the Bulldogs had NEVER defeated Tennessee. Those times are now long gone.

With the victory in hand and a loss by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this past weekend, the Mississippi State basketball team saw its ranking move up this week. After being stuck at number 6 the last few weeks, the Bulldogs are now back in the Top 5 at number five this week in the AP Top 25 poll.

The road back to the Final Four doesn’t get much easier this week for the Women’s Mississippi State basketball team. The Bulldogs host the Missouri Tigers this week at home, and they will head to College Station this coming weekend to take on the Texas A&M Aggies. The second game will be intriguing due to it being Anriel Howard’s return to Texas A&M.

The Mississippi State basketball team is hoping to make it to their their third straight national championship game appearance. If they continue to play at the level they are playing at right now, the Bulldogs will have an excellent opportunity to do so.
