Lee Witherspoon is a dynamic athlete who will almost certainly be playing running back for the Mississippi State football team once he gets on campus in Starkville.

The Mississippi State football team is adding an incredible athlete to its roster in Lee Witherspoon. Witherspoon hasn’t played running back for very long, but he’s still certainly a phenomenal addition for the Bulldogs at that position.

In high school, during Witherspoon’s senior season, the talented and definitely underrated running back was borderline unstoppable. Witherspoon was the star for North Jackson High School in Stevenson, Alabama, scoring touchdowns seemingly whenever he wanted to.

Adam Kramer of Bleacher Report wrote one heck of an article about Witherspoon that you should definitely read. This part certainly stands out from that article:

"In total, Witherspoon ran for 2,846 yards on only 148 carries, averaging an unfathomable 19.2 yards per carry. He scored 59 touchdowns, a single-season Alabama High School Athletic Association record. And as staggering as his statistics were, they could have been even better."

Joe Moorhead and the Mississippi State football team were able to get Witherspoon to join the Bulldogs all the way back in December and that might just be one of the best moves that they’ve made during this recruiting cycle.

Lee Witherspoon might become one phenomenal running back at the college level if he can continue to develop. There’s a chance that there’ll be a steep learning curve for Witherspoon as he adjusts to life at the college level, but he’ll almost certainly be given time to grow and adapt behind Kylin Hill and Nick Gibson this season.

Joey Jones and Charles Huff were the primary and secondary recruiters for Witherspoon. The Mississippi State Bulldogs got Witherspoon over Virginia Tech, Louisville, Arkansas State, Troy, UAB and others.
