De’Monte Russell stayed in the state of Mississippi and picked the Mississippi State football team back during the early signing period.

Before Brian Baker left for the Alabama Crimson Tide, he was working to recruit and incredibly talented defensive end from Jackson, Mississippi for the Mississippi State football team.

De’Monte Russell picked the Mississippi State Bulldogs and officially became a member of the Mississippi State football team in December as part of the early signing period.

Russell is a huge addition for Joe Moorhead and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He’s one of the quickest defensive ends in the country and is a pass rushing nightmare for opposing offensive lines to keep up with.

At 6-4 and just 216 pounds, the first priority for the Mississippi State football team with De’Monte Russell should be to bulk him up some and add some weight to his frame. The Jackson native will need to get a bit bigger if he hopes to have any sort of significant impact as a pass rusher in the Southeastern Conference throughout his career.

But he can certainly add some weight once he gets to Starkville and in MSU’s training facilities.

Russell is a four-star defensive end who had offers from a multitude of schools. The Ole Miss Rebels, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Florida Gators, the Florida State Seminoles, the Texas A&M Aggies, and the Oregon Ducks (among others) were all interested and extended offers to Russell.
