The Bulldogs will be trolling the Tigers tomorrow night with free corn dogs when the Mississippi State basketball team takes on LSU.

There’s nothing quite like a good troll. And tomorrow night, when the Mississippi State basketball team takes on the LSU Tigers, the Bulldogs will be trolling the Tigers for sure.

On Monday, in an email sent out to promote the Mississippi State basketball game on Wednesday night, the Bulldogs announced they would be giving  away free corn dogs while supplies last during the game. It was also promoted through a tweet earlier today.

So why is this being done for the Mississippi State basketball game against LSU? What’s the significance of giving away corn dogs at a game involving the Tigers? Is there a point to all of this?

Most people know that LSU fans have been mockingly referred to as corn dogs by other fan bases. This is the reason why it’s a nice little troll job by the Mississippi State basketball team.

But if you don’t know why fans of the LSU Tigers are referred to as corn dogs, I’ll refer you to this story written on our own site four years ago. In that story it also references a post on SEC Rant and also takes you to another site, but the link is now broken.

According to this Auburn website, you can find the original SEC Rant post word for word that first made the claim LSU fans smell like corn dogs. I can’t verify if this is true, but it sounds about right.

Regardless of how the “LSU fans smell like corn dogs” thing started, it’s always fun to troll in ways that are harmless. And this troll job for the Mississippi State basketball game, fits the bill perfectly.
