After going 1-1 against teams not ranked in the AP Top 25, the Mississippi State basketball team fell out of the rankings for the first time this season.

For the second consecutive week, the Mississippi State basketball team went 1-1 in its games and pulled its conference record back to .500. The team dropped a game against the Alabama Crimson Tide this past week on Tuesday but then turned around and upset the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford.

When the Mississippi State basketball team split games against ranked opponents the previous week, the team stayed put in the rankings. Would the Bulldogs’ fate in the rankings hold true splitting games against unranked teams?

If the Mississippi State basketball team wants to get back in the rankings, it will have a great opportunity to do so this week. The Bulldogs will play 21st ranked LSU on Wednesday night at 8:00, and then they will welcome the 5th ranked Kentucky Wildcats to Humphrey Coliseum on Saturday at noon. Winning both games would probably put the Bulldogs close to the Top 15.
