The Mississippi State baseball team will apparently be moving on from Denver McQuary as the junior pitcher reportedly has been dismissed from the Bulldogs’ baseball team.

According to a report by the Starkville Daily News’ Joel Coleman, Denver McQuary will no longer be on the Mississippi State baseball team. The Bulldogs will apparently be moving on from the right handed pitcher as he has now been dismissed for a violation of team rules.

With the season starting in just a couple of weeks, that’s not quite the Mississippi State baseball news that anyone really wanted to get. But, well, it happened. Now the Bulldogs will work on moving on from him.

McQuary was headed into his junior year with the Bulldogs. He hadn’t been overly successful in his first two seasons in Starkville, but the Mississippi State baseball team could have still found a use for him coming out of the bullpen.

Not anymore though.

Denver McQuary didn’t have an astonishing season in 2018, but he was instrumental in Mississippi State’s run to Omaha.

As a sophomore in a possible elimination game, McQuary got the start and threw 83 pitches and got 3.0 innings of work against the Oklahoma Sooners during the Tallahassee Regional. McQuary struck out a trio of Sooners and only gave up one run in the process.

In a must-win situation, McQuary came through huge and helped the Bulldogs come out on top.

He actually did the same against the Ole Miss Rebels earlier in the season, throwing for 5.0 innings, striking out 3 batters, and helping Mississippi State bring home the Governor’s Cup yet again.

The Bulldogs should be able to be fine without McQuary, but it’s not exactly ideal that the Mississippi State baseball team is losing him.
