Close wins and losses aren’t better than blowout wins and every single Mississippi State basketball fan should truly appreciate what Vic Schaefer has managed to build in Starkville.

No Mississippi State basketball fan should take what Vic Schaefer has built in Starkville for granted. Everyone should be incredibly grateful for the opportunity to watch a team truly capable of contending for a national title. Having the opportunity to see this team of Bulldogs go out and routinely win with ease is a privilege that all MSU fans should enjoy.

Most fans do appreciate everything that Schaefer has done for MSU. Most are grateful that Vic has turned the Bulldogs into a true national title contender. Most fans are enjoying watching a team that has the potential to go compete for another title yet again.

But, well, apparently there’s apparently an incredibly small minority of MSU fans that are admittedly getting tired of seeing the Mississippi State women’s basketball team crush its foes.

And that just doesn’t make much sense.

Look, I get not being interested in watching a blowout. It’s not like every blowout is all that intriguing. But having a team that can routinely crush opponents is a heck of a lot better than seeing your favorite team struggle to win games regularly.

And what Schaefer has turned his Mississippi State basketball program shouldn’t go unappreciated. Right now, in this moment, we are in the midst of what is arguably the most successful run for any team in all of Mississippi State history.

Vic Schaefer has taken the Mississippi State women’s basketball team to back-to-back Final Fours. He’s competed for two national titles in the process, more than any other coach in any sport in MSU history. The Bulldogs won the SEC title last year. And at the moment, Schaefer is 11-2 against Ole Miss and is riding a 10-game winning streak against the Rebels. And his team is regularly, and routinely, winning games in blowout fashion.

That’s all good. These are all very good things that Mississippi State basketball fans should enjoy.

Unfortunately, one day, this reign that Schaefer has started to establish will inevitably come to an end. It won’t last forever. There are other programs out there who will, at some point, surpass MSU. The Bulldogs look like they’ll be good for a very long time, but everything will come to an end eventually.

So enjoy seeing a Mississippi State team annihilate foes while we can. Enjoy every aspect of the Vic Schaefer era. Everything about it is good, including those blowouts.
