Ben Howland’s Mississippi State basketball team got the season moving back in the right direction as the Bulldogs took down the Auburn Tigers in the Hump tonight.

Earlier this week, Ben Howland and the Mississippi State basketball team lost to the Kentucky Wildcats in an incredibly disheartening and frustrating game on the road in Lexington, Kentucky. Tonight, however, the Bulldogs got a bit of redemption as they defeated the Auburn Tigers back home in Starkville. MSU got a much needed 92-84 victory over the Tigers.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were led by senior guard Quinndary Weatherspoon, who had a phenomenal game against a pretty good team. Had the elder Weatherspoon brother not performed at the level that he did, the Mississippi State basketball team would have fallen tonight.

27 points while hitting 4 of his 5 three point attempts and gathering 4 rebounds happened to make for a solid game for Q Weatherspoon.

But Quinndary Weatherspoon wasn’t the only Weatherspoon on MSU’s roster to have a solid game and he certainly wasn’t the only Mississippi State basketball player to perform at a high level tonight.

Nick Weatherspoon was solid all over the court on both offense and defense. He scored 12 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and then also got 3 steals and 3 assists. Lamar Peters had a double-double, scoring 16 points and dealing out 10 assists.

And even though Aric Holman didn’t have a phenomenal game scoring wise with just 7 points, he was still crucial to the Bulldogs’ success. Holman blocked 4 shots, grabbed 6 rebounds, and then got himself a couple of steals.

This is a huge win for Howland and his Mississippi State basketball team. The Bulldogs, as they were losing to the Kentucky Wildcats, looked lost and helpless. That wasn’t the case tonight against Auburn.
