Kylin Hill and Nick Gibson should thrive next season for Mississippi State’s offense.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs didn’t use their talented pool of running backs enough in 2018. That should be clear and should be something that just about every Mississippi State football fan can agree with.

Heck, just about anyone who kept up with MSU in 2018 should be able to point that out.

But, there’s still a reason for hope here. Next season, the Mississippi State football team will be breaking in a new starting quarterback, but Keytaon Thompson will have had two offseasons and a full season to learn Moorhead’s offense. Plus, he’s shown more potential as a passer for the Bulldogs.

There’s a realistic chance that Mississippi state will have more chances to run the ball more effectively because defenses will legitimately have to be concerned with what MSU’s quarterback will do.

Given the talent that Kylin Hill and Nick Gibson displayed, that possibility should excite MSU fans.

Starting with Hill, he was Mississippi State’s leading rusher not named Nick Fitzgerald. Hill ran for 734 yards and 4 touchdowns on 6.3 yards per carry. Gibson earned just 205 yards and a touchdown, but he gained 7.6 yards per carry.

This duo should dominate defenses as it takes a different role in Joe Moorhead’s offense next season.
