Mississippi State football: 5 positives from Joe Moorhead’s first season in Starkville

In Joe Moorhead’s first season leading the Mississippi State football team, the Bulldogs had a decent amount of success. MSU underachieved, but the future could still be bright for Moorhead’s teams.
2018 didn’t go the way that most Mississippi State football fans wanted it to. 2018 didn’t even come close to going the way that many Bulldog fans expected it to go either. Joe Moorhead, in his first season in Starkville, underachieved. But that doesn’t mean that everything is going to be bleak in the future. There are some positives that we can take away from this past season.
That seems odd, right?
The Bulldogs had a team with the talent and potential (especially on the defensive side of things) to make things difficult for Alabama and possibly win 10 games this season. There’s an argument to be made that MSU would have done just that had Dan Mullen remained in Starkville.
But there are still plenty of things that occurred this past Mississippi State football season that could certainly indicate that the Bulldogs will have plenty of success down the road.
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t some concerns from this past season. I certainly have a list of concerns from Moorhead’s first season as the head coach of the Bulldogs.
Even though there are some concerns from last year, let’s take a look at some of the positives that came from last season. Here’s five positives from the first season with Moorhead leading the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
