Charles Huff thanks Mississippi State football fans in farewell letter
By Ethan Lee
Charles Huff may be leaving the Mississippi State football program, but he is thanking the Bulldog faithful on his way over to Tuscaloosa in a heartwarming letter.
A key member of Joe Moorhead’s staff is, unfortunately, leaving Starkville. The Mississippi State football team will have to replace Charles Huff, who is headed over to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to join Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. As he heads out of Starkville, Huff apparently wanted to thank MSU, its fans, and the surrounding community.
And so, the former running backs coach of the Mississippi State football team got on twitter and did just that.
In his tweet, Charles Huff thanked John Cohen and other members of MSU’s administration team, Joe Moorhead and the Moorhead family, Starkville and those that call it home, Mississippi State football fans, and then the players he got to work with.
Huff also stated that Mississippi State University “will always hold a special place in [his] heart.”

It’s not exactly ideal that the Bulldogs are going to lose a talented recruiter. What makes the situation more frustrating is that Huff is headed right across the state line to work for a team that crushes the hopes of MSU (and really the rest of the SEC) on a regular basis.
Huff arrived in Starkville as part of a coaching staff that was supposed to help Mississippi State go on to compete for titles. He’s leaving MSU after one year, a year in which the Bulldogs only went 8-5.
That’s kinda frustrating.
But, Huff is doing what is best for him, his family, and his career. It’s hard to blame him for that. It’s unlikely that he’ll be back in Starkville as a member of the coaching staff at any point down the line, but there’s always that slim chance that still technically exists.
To Charles Huff, I doubt that you’re reading this and even if you did, I doubt that you read to this point, but still, thank you.
Thank you for being part of this Mississippi State football team. I hope you have success in the future (outside of that game against MSU, that is) and that you (and the other members of MSU’s coaching staff who have left recently) thrive. Good luck.
