The Mississippi State football team has officially announced the dates for all four nonconference Bulldog football games in 2020.

It’s never too early to look ahead as a Mississippi State football fan. And now that we know the dates of all the nonconference games for the 2020 season, why not look way ahead and see if we can predict the dates of ALL the games for the 2020 season.

For reference, we’ll use the 2019 schedule to see if we can pinpoint the rest of the 2020 schedule. Both the 2018 and 2019 schedule depart from some pretty consistent scheduling practices employed both by the school and the SEC.

Here is the 2019 Mississippi State football schedule.

  • Louisiana
  • Southern Miss
  • Kansas State
  • Kentucky
  • AT Auburn
  • AT Tennessee
  • LSU
  • AT Texas A&M
  • AT Arkansas
  • Alabama
  • Abilene Christian
  • Ole Miss

2019 will mark the first year the Mississippi State football team will join most of the rest of the SEC in hosting its FCS opponent the week before their rivalry week game. Most seasons, this week had been when the Bulldogs would play the Arkansas Razorbacks, but there had been some years where another team was scheduled during this week, like it was in 2014 when the Bulldogs played Vanderbilt in that slot.

2020 will see the Mississippi State football team keep their FCS opponent the week before rivalry week. Will it stay that way in the years to come? Time will only tell.

So, now that we have the four nonconference games determined, it is now time to make our best educated guess as to how the rest of the schedule will play out. (I am not going to predict the bye week. That’s quite the crap shoot.)
