Mississippi State basketball’s Jordan Danberry earned SEC honors this week for her stellar and impressive play against Arkansas and Kentucky last week.

Yet another of Vic Schaefer’s Mississippi State basketball players has earned the honor of being an SEC player of the week. This time, after a couple of incredible performances and remarkable stats to start SEC play, senior guard Jordan Danberry was tabbed as the SEC co-player of the week alongside Georgia’s Gabby Connally yesterday.

In the two games last week against the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Kentucky Wildcats, Danberry was borderline unstoppable. In the two games combined, she scored 43 points, had 12 rebounds, dealt out 9 assists, had 2 blocks, and then also had 2 steals.

That averages out to 21.5 points, 6 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and then a block and a steal per game. That’s an absolutely unreal stat line to have, but Danberry had it.

When the Bulldogs needed someone to step up and have a couple of big performances, Danberry did just that. And the Mississippi State basketball team was able to get a couple of huge, blowout victories to start SEC play.

Mississippi State’s next SEC game will come against the Georgia Lady Bulldogs, when Danberry will face off against her fellow SEC co-player of the week.

Vic Schaefer’s Mississippi State basketball team may need to be careful in that game.

Though Georgia isn’t quite a powerhouse, they still have a very respectable 11-4 record this year after winning their last five games, and the Lady Bulldogs were certainly pretty good a season ago. Plus, with young stars like Connally on their team thriving, Georgia could certainly make things interesting in Starkville tomorrow night.

There’s a very real chance that the Bulldogs will need Danberry to step up yet again. But, as we’ve already seen, Mississippi State’s star guard can certainly do just that.
