For the first time in the New Year, Vic Schaefer and the No. 7 Mississippi State basketball team will take the floor in Humphrey Coliseum. It’s gameday, folks! Get ready for it.

It’s 2019 and so far, MSU has experienced some mixed results in the new year. The Mississippi State football team got the year going with a frustrating loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes, but then Vic Schaefer’s Mississippi State basketball team opened up 2019 with a huge win to start the SEC season for the Bulldogs.

So, in 2019, the Bulldogs are undefeated on the basketball court and are unable to get a victory on the football field.

Football = bad, basketball = good.

(Yes, that’s kind of an oversimplification of what’s going on with the two sports, but that’s kind of the point.)

But hey, it’s gameday yet again.

The 7th ranked Mississippi State basketball team is back in action and back at home to face off against the 16th ranked Kentucky Wildcats this afternoon at 4:00 pm. Thankfully, this game is in the Hump, otherwise, it might be a bit more challenging than some of us would feel comfortable with.

This is a huge ranked Southeastern Conference match up for the Bulldogs and the Wildcats, so it’s really only appropriate that this game be broadcast on the SEC Network.

Both teams enter into this game with big aspirations and conference title hopes. Both teams enter into this game with a single loss on the season. Both teams got off to a very hot start for their SEC schedule.

Mississippi State throttle Arkansas 93-69 and Kentucky whooped up on Vanderbilt 77-55.

Next. UConn’s loss to Baylor could help the Bulldogs. dark

If possible, make your way to the Hump this afternoon for the game. The Bulldogs will be notably more difficulty to defeat than the Commodores were to start SEC play for Kentucky, but MSU will still get a challenge from the Wildcats. It’s unlikely that they’ll simply roll over here. The Bulldogs will need a solid crowd behind them and they’ll have to earn this one.
