The Mississippi State basketball team didn’t struggle at all to get its first conference win of the season. The 7th ranked Bulldogs waltzed right in and out of Fayetteville, Arkansas with a 93-69 win.

Well, after Joe Moorhead and the Mississippi State football team couldn’t come through and get the first MSU win of 2019, Vic Schaefer’s Mississippi State basketball team stepped right in and got the first victory for the Maroon and White faithful to see this year with ease.

The No. 7 Bulldogs (13-1 overall, 1-0 SEC) defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks (11-4 overall, 0-1 SEC) by a score of 93-69.

And much of the Bulldogs’ success last night hinged on just how well former Arkansas Razorback (and Arkansas native) Jordan Danberry played.

Danberry absolutely destroyed the Razorbacks’ defense, making 11 of her 21 shots and scoring a game high 26 points. And despite the fact that she’s not exactly known for grabbing rebounds (part of that has to do with how great Teaira McCowan is at cleaning up missed shots), last night Danberry grabbed 9 rebounds.

The Mississippi State basketball team beat the Arkansas Razorbacks 93-69, a 24-point victory, in a game which Jordan Danberry scored 26 points.

That’s not bad.

This is a game that Mississippi State controlled from the beginning. MSU hit 76.5 percent of its field goal attempts in the first quarter while the Razorbacks made just 36.8 percent of theirs to give State a 28-17 lead after the first 10 minutes.

By halftime, the Bulldogs had a 50-33 advantage.

The second half wasn’t any easier for Arkansas. The Razorbacks were outscored 23-8 in the third quarter and there was simply no turning the game around at that point. And the Bulldogs went on to win 93-69.

For the game, Mississippi State made 49.3 percent of its shots while Arkansas made just 37.5 percent. The Bulldogs grabbed 57 rebounds while the Razorbacks had just 31. MSU out rebounded the Razorbacks by just having defensive rebounds with 35.
