The No. 7 Mississippi State Bulldogs are beginning to work on defending their SEC regular season title as they head into conference play against the Arkansas Razorbacks this evening.

A season ago, for the first time ever, MSU’s women’s basketball program came out on top of the SEC during the regular season. Now, Vic Schaefer and the No. 7 Mississippi State basketball team will start working on defending their SEC regular season championship as they begin conference play this evening.

At 6:00 pm tonight, the Bulldogs and the Razorbacks will get things started in Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

Schaefer and the Bulldogs have to be hoping that this year’s SEC schedule will go something like last season. Mississippi State basketball fans would certainly enjoy such a feat being repeated this year.

Last year, Schaefer led the Mississippi State Bulldogs to a perfect record in conference play, going 16-0 throughout the regular season against SEC teams. MSU dispatched of teams such as South Carolina at home in front of an incredible crowd and then had no issue defeating Georgia (by 24 points) on the road.

The Bulldogs were the best team in the conference in the 2017-2018 season and that was especially true during the regular season.

Now, the Mississippi State women’s basketball team is aiming to win another SEC title. If they’re going to actually do that, then a win tonight would give the Bulldogs some solid momentum that would help them accomplish that goal.

Vic Schaefer has accomplished wonderful things during his time leading his Mississippi State basketball program. Here’s to hoping that MSU can continue to climb to new heights under his stewardship and that some of those new heights are reached during this season.

With all of the talent that the Bulldogs have on their roster, it would not be far-fetched to see the Bulldogs repeat as SEC regular season champs. Tonight, against Arkansas, the quest for claiming that title yet again begins.
