Five Things We Learned From the Mississippi State Football Spring Game

It’s always hard to know what we can take away from a college’s spring football game. If one team’s quarterback throws for 350 yards is it because he’s going to become a Heisman candidate or is it because the offense is routinely going to give up 300+ yards per game this season?

Say a running back only has 2 carries in the entire game. Is he going to tumble to the bottom of the depth chart and never see the field again? Or did the coaching staff just want to make sure that their future star didn’t get dinged up.

And, with this past spring game, I figured I would try and help decipher what went on during it. It was interesting, but it probably won’t be anywhere near as interesting as this upcoming spring game. Joe Moorhead is trying to replace Nick Fitzgerald (arguably a top five quarterback in MSU’s history) and who will take his spot?

We’ll find out soon and we’ll discuss it plenty during the offseason.
