The Mississippi State football team is about to battle the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2019 Outback Bowl. Here’s what the Bulldogs must do to come out on top of their first bowl game down in Tampa.

In Joe Moorhead’s first season as the head coach of the Mississippi State football team, he successfully guided the Bulldogs to an eight-win regular season and moved them into a great bowl game down in Florida.

The Bulldogs are set to face off against the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2019 Outback Bowl. This will be the last time that many MSU players take the field in Maroon and White and will also be the last time that some of these guys will ever get to wear a football uniform.

There’s also a lot riding on this game.

If State comes out on top, the Bulldogs will have won at least nine games in four of the last five seasons. That would make this arguably the most successful five year stretch in Mississippi State football history.

It would also mean that Joe Moorhead has, at bare minimum, maintained the elevated level of success that Dan Mullen has established. Given how critical many Mississippi State football fans have been of their new head coach, that would be a remarkable feat for him and for MSU.

So, here’s five things that the Bulldogs need to do to make sure that they come out on top.
