A clutch shot by Roshunda Johnson forced overtime to help send Mississippi State to their second straight national championship game.

On Saturday, I revealed moment number three for Mississippi State. Today is moment number two for the Bulldogs in 2018.

After Mississippi State’s football team beat Louisville in the TaxSlayer Bowl and the Men’s Basketball team beat Louisville in the NIT, Bulldog fans wondered if the Bulldogs would get the chance to end the season for Louisville in Women’s basketball as well. They were given the opportunity, but it might not have gone the way fans wanted it to had it not been for a huge three pointer by Roshunda Johnson.

The game with Louisville was a battle. It looked bleak at times, and Roshunda Johnson was an unexpected hero given the fact she had played somewhat poorly earlier in the game.

The Bulldogs trailed by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter. And when the team was down by three points in the closing seconds, Roshunda Johnson redeemed herself for an other wise poor game.

Roshunda Johnson only made two of seven field goal attempts against Louisville, but had it not been for her big three pointer with seven seconds left in regulation, the Bulldogs might not have been playing in a second straight national championship game. It just goes to show big time players can still step up in big situations even if they aren’t having their best performance.

Next. Grading every MSU football game of 2018. dark

The three pointer by Roshunda Johnson won’t go down in Mississippi State lore like Morgan William’s shot against Connecticut will. It didn’t win the game and it didn’t happen as time expired. But it was still one of the biggest moments of the year, and I wanted to make sure it got the proper respect it deserved.
