Moment 5 of 2018: Mississippi State baseball wins their Super Regional

The Mississippi State baseball team won one of the most exciting Super Regionals and continued a magical run to the College World Series

On Wednesday, I revealed moment number six for Mississippi State. Today is moment number five for the Bulldogs in 2018.

The Mississippi State baseball team wasn’t supposed to make it to Hoover for the SEC Tournament. But they finished strong and put on a magical post season ride.

After losing the first game to Oklahoma in the Tallahassee Regional, the Mississippi State baseball team just kept on winning. And they had a penchant for doing it in dramatic style.

When the Mississippi State baseball team headed to Nashville for their Super Regional with the Vanderbilt Commodores, the team had reached a point where everything they accomplished was simply icing on the cake. But that didn’t mean the team didn’t want plenty of said icing.

After keeping the Mississippi State baseball season alive in the regional with a walk off home run against the Florida State Seminoles, Elijah MacNamee walked off the Commodores in Game 1 of the Super Regional. The Bulldogs would lose Game 2 in walk off fashion, and they turned the dramatics up another notch in Game 3.

After battling for 8 innings in a 3-3 tie, the Mississippi State baseball team would go on to score three runs in the top of the 9th. But Vanderbilt responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. But after Mississippi State would add four runs in the top of the 11th, the Bulldogs would punch their ticket to Omaha for the 10th time in school history,

With the way the Mississippi State baseball season started, making the trip to Omaha was a sweet surprise for the team and the fans. It’s a surprise that all who follow Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team will cherish for the rest of their lives.
