Mississippi State basketball loses heart breaker on road to Oregon Ducks

Vic Schaefer’s Mississippi State basketball team is undefeated no more as the No. 4 Bulldogs fell to the No. 7 Oregon Ducks on the road late last night.
The No. 4 Mississippi State basketball team isn’t undefeated anymore. Late last night out on the West Coast, the Bulldogs lost for the first time this season. No. 4 Mississippi State lost to the No. 7 Oregon Ducks in front of a packed home crowd for Oregon.
Mississippi State did everything that it could to try and keep up with Oregon, but the Ducks were content to move up and down the court as quickly as possible in an attempt to wear the Bulldogs out over the course of the game.
As it turns out, that was a pretty effective strategy.
Oregon started the game by draining threes and forcing MSU to try and keep up. The Bulldogs attempted to move at Oregon’s pace, but simply didn’t have the speed to do it last night and ended up running out of gas towards the end.
Oregon was able to completely nullify Teaira McCowan last night. McCowan was unable to get going offensively and ended the game with 5 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
Anriel Howard did everything that she could to keep the Mississippi State basketball team in the game and carried the Bulldogs through most of it. Last night, Howard scored 30 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
The loss is frustrating but it’s incredibly unlikely that this is going to be something that derails the Bulldogs’ season. The Mississippi State Bulldogs will play again tomorrow against the Washington Huskies up in Seattle. This is the perfect chance for MSU to bounce back from this loss.

Everything that the Bulldogs want to accomplish is still in front of them. MSU can still win the SEC and can make a run in March. However, it’s frustrating to see the Bulldogs gashed like that. Hopefully MSU can bounce back and cover from this loss sooner rather than later.
