The Mississippi State football team had an incredibly dominant defense this year and a large part of that was its secondary. The Bulldogs will be losing quite a bit of talent from the secondary as Johnathan Abram, Mark McLaurin, and others depart after exhausting their eligibility.

That means that someone will have to step up. Bob Shoop and the Bulldogs are looking to keep the defense strong and adding Javeious Purvis might be able to help with that.

Charles Huff and Bob Shoop were both in on recruiting Purvis to come to Mississippi State and their efforts were successful. The young defensive back picked MSU over Oregon, Ole Miss, UAB, Southern Miss, and other.

At 6-2 and 195 pounds, Purvis is versatile enough to provide Shoop with a couple of different options when he lines up on the field.
