Vic Schaefer has taken his No. 4 Mississippi State basketball team over to the west coast to face off with the No. 7 Oregon Ducks later this evening.

The undefeated No. 4 Mississippi State basketball team is taking a bit of a road trip out west in the days leading up to Christmas. Vic Schaefer has taken his Bulldogs to Eugene, Oregon to play the No. 7 Oregon Ducks this evening and then later this week, MSU will face off against the Washington Huskies.

The Bulldogs have been playing stellar basketball to get the 2018-2019 Mississippi State basketball season started. So far, the MSU women’s basketball team is currently undefeated with a 10-0 record on the year.

Tonight, against the Oregon Ducks, the Bulldogs will be given one of their toughest challenges that they will have this season. Mississippi State has taken on a couple of tough tests so far this year, but it’s unlikely that they’ll have faced anything quite like Oregon so far.

Yes, the 18 point road win over the Texas Longhorns was impressive, but UT is currently the 54th ranked team in RPI. The five point win over Marquette is certainly something Mississippi State can hang its hat on as the Golden Eagles are the 7th best team in RPI rankings. But, State got Marquette at home.

Now, tonight, the Bulldogs will face the 6th best team in RPI rankings in Oregon and Mississippi State will have to find a way to win away from the Hump.

Oregon is 8-1 this season and the Ducks are hardly a pushover. The Ducks are currently averaging 92.4 points per game while holding their foes to 62.6 points per game. For those that don’t want to do any calculating, that’s a difference of 29.8 points per game in Oregon’s favor.
