The Outback Bowl might not have wanted Mississippi State football for their bowl, but the SEC did right by the Bulldogs in putting them there.

On today’s episode of It’s Always Sunny in Starkville, Co-Site Expert Justin Strawn looks at the Mississippi State football team’s selection to the Outback Bowl. It’s been a long time coming for Bulldog fans who snubbed MSU way back in 1999.

There is plenty of evidence to suggest the Outback Bowl was hoping for a different team in Maroon and White besides the Mississippi State football team. John Cohen and the SEC had to apply quite a bit of pressure to get the Bulldogs to Tampa.

But this is the reason the SEC went to the bowl selection process it did. The conference wanted to make sure its member institutions like Mississippi State football don’t get passed up for bowls they have earned for teams with bigger fan bases.

The show is hosted by Maroon and White Nation Site Co-Expert Justin Strawn, and it airs on Bulldog Sports Radio every Tuesday and Thursday.
