Mississippi State basketball stays put in AP Top 25

The Mississippi State basketball team hammered a top 10 opponent on Sunday, and the team continued to show they are a national powerhouse.

When the Mississippi State basketball team took the court against the Texas Longhorns this past Sunday, it was viewed by many as a litmus test for how much this team had lost when four of their five starters graduated this past season. If Sunday was any indicator, they haven’t lost much at all.

The Bulldogs hammered the Texas Longhorns by 18 points. It proved that despite the losses from a season ago, this Mississippi State basketball squad is just as much of a force to be reckoned with as the teams from the previous two seasons.

The Mississippi State basketball team was ranked 6th in the country last week. After another perfect week of basketball, the team still can’t climb into the top 5 for the first time this season. This week’s AP poll has the Bulldogs ranked 6th as they get ready to take on get ready for a couple of big contests later this month.

The Mississippi State basketball team was picked to be the SEC champions in 2019. They stand a very good chance of fulfilling that prediction if they can finish up the non-conference portion of their schedule without a loss.

If the Mississippi State basketball team is able to do so, another special year could be in store. It wouldn’t surprise many if they were to make another deep run in the NCAA Tournament if they start SEC play without a loss on their resume.
