The Mississippi State football team is trying to land Kelly Bryant. Could a recent commitment from a talented wide receiver help sway the former Clemson quarterback’s decision?

Joe Moorhead and his coaching staff are looking to get Kelly Bryant to play his final season of eligibility with the Mississippi State football team. Convincing Bryant to come to Starkville will be difficult given that he has drawn interest from seemingly every program in corner of the country. Could a recent commitment from a talented wide receiver be enough to help bring Bryant to MSU?

While the high profile quarterback was in town this past weekend, several other potential recruits were on the sidelines of the Mississippi State football game against the Arkansas Razorbacks. One of whom happens to be JaVonta Payton.

For those that don’t know, Payton was committed to Ole Miss around a month ago but is now committed to come play for Mississippi State. He’s also one of the best junior college wide receiver prospects in this recruiting class.

This past weekend, JaVonta Payton and Kelly Bryant seemed to get along pretty well:

After Bryant’s trip to Starkville, he reportedly cancelled a planned trip down to Miami.

It looks like Kelly Bryant enjoyed his trip to Starkville when the Bulldogs faced the Razorbacks this past weekend, but it’ll take more than just a good visit on campus to get Bryant on board. And even though Miami is out of the picture, there’s still several notable schools in the running for the quarterback’s services.

Arkansas, Mizzou, North Carolina, and Auburn are still certainly in the picture and Bryant has a visit to Auburn coming up soon.

Next. Joe Moorhead must win his first Egg Bowl. dark

MSU needs to do everything that it can to land Bryant. The quarterback has a high ceiling and could do a lot of good for Joe Moorhead and the Mississippi State football team next year. Him developing a connection with a future wide receiver for the Bulldogs could possibly help improve MSU’s chances.
