SEC Football: The Ole Miss Rebels are trying to rebound from a rough loss to the Auburn Tigers while the South Carolina Gamecocks are trying to get a decent win after a close game against Tennessee.

The Ole Miss Rebels are hosting the South Carolina Gamecocks in Oxford, Mississippi this weekend. The last time Ole Miss played, the Rebels gave up 31 points to an Auburn Tigers team that is inept on offense and then lost in deflating fashion. Last weekend, however, Ole Miss took a break and used its bye week to rest up.

South Carolina arrives in Oxford after hosting the Tennessee Volunteers last weekend. The Vols gave the Gamecocks a closer game than many expected and South Carolina is looking to give its fans a reason to forget about that game with a solid win this afternoon. If South Carolina does win today, the Gamecocks are one game closer to bowl eligibility.

Why does this SEC football game matter for Mississippi State football fans?

Like every other team in the country, the Mississippi State Bulldogs are trying to end the season strong. The Egg Bowl is coming up and the Bulldogs want to bring the trophy back home. Ole Miss, on the other hand, will want to keep that trophy right where it is. The Rebels have been explosive on offense and then has imploded on defense on seemingly every single drive against even awful teams. South Carolina will be another great measuring stick to see how Ole Miss responded to its loss and its bye week.
