The Mississippi State football team is breaking out brand new uniforms to honor G.V. ‘Sonny’ Montgomery. Check out the “Statesman” uniforms right here.

SOUND THE ALARMS BECAUSE WE HAVE BRAND NEW MISSISSIPPI STATE FOOTBALL UNIFORMS TO TALK ABOUT, FOLKS!

The Mississippi State football team is breaking out a new uniform combination unlike any that the Bulldogs have played in so far this season. The new uniforms are made to honor the late G.V. ‘Sonny’ Montgomery. Montgomery served the United States of America during World War II and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1943 prior to his service.

Montgomery, a native of Meridian, Mississippi, was highly decorated for his service. After World War II, Montgomery served America in Korea as well. According to the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery foundation, Montgomery was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor, Legion of Merit, and Combat Infantry Badge for his service in World War II.

Montgomery then served Mississippi as part of the Mississippi State Senate and then later was elected to congress, where he was in the House of Representatives from 1967 to 1997.

Now, the Bulldogs will be wearing these “Statesman” uniforms that were inspired by a plane with Montgomery’s name on it.

The uniforms have already gotten a vote of approval from Nick Fitzgerald.

Unfortunately, it’s going to be a little bit before you see these in action. That’s right, you won’t get to see the Bulldogs wear these uniforms this weekend, but you will see them on Scott Field soon. During the final home game of the 2018 Mississippi State football season, MSU will wear these against Arkansas.

From MSU’s announcement of these uniforms:

"When Mississippi State football takes Scott Field on Senior Day against Arkansas on November 17, the Bulldogs will pay tribute to MSU alum and World War II hero Sonny Montgomery."

MSU's game time and tv channel for the Alabama game has been set.. dark. Next

I’d like to go on record and say that the helmets are by far the best part of these uniforms. That said, the entire set is pretty cool and the gesture of honoring Montgomery is a great one. MSU’s athletic department and Adidas did a good job here.
