Nick Fitzgerald finally played up to his potential and carried the Bulldogs against the Aggies.

This was it. This was kind of the performance that Mississippi State football fans were looking for this season. This was how the Bulldogs expected Nick Fitzgerald to be able to play. Against the Texas A&M Aggies, Fitzgerald had what was arguably his best performance of the 2018 season.

Last night, without Kylin Hill alongside him in the backfield or a concerted effort to get Aeris Williams the ball, Fitzgerald was able to execute and lead several scoring drives for MSU. What was most impressive with this performance was just how good Fitz was through the air.

Nick Fitzgerald had struggled to throw the ball against SEC opponents prior to this game. Before facing A&M, Fitz had thrown 6 interceptions and hadn’t had a single passing touchdown against a conference foe. Yet, against Texas A&M, Fitz completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns while remaining interception free.

On the ground, Fitzgerald was explosive and unsurprisingly good as well. He was able to run for 88 yards and two touchdowns against A&M’s vaunted run defense.
