The Mississippi State football team opened up as a field goal favorite over the Texas A&M Aggies.

Somehow, for some reason, the Mississippi State football team is favored over Texas A&M by the folks over in Vegas. When the betting line opened up, the Mississippi State Bulldogs came out as a field goal favorite over Texas A&M for this week’s game against Texas A&M. Since then, the point spread has shrunk considerably.

According to oddsshark.com, MSU opened up as a three point favorite across the board. But, as the week has worn on, that point spread now sits at 1.5 points in most books and is as low as 1 point in several others. Right now, the total sits at 44 points and most people are taking the under on that one.

When it comes to betting, this game is as close to even as it could be.

There are two factors working in Mississippi State’s favor for this game. The Bulldogs have one of the best defenses in the country and this game is being played in Starkville, Mississippi. That’s about all that MSU has going for it right now.

Oddsshark’s prediction for the game is that MSU will win, cover the spread, and that the total will go over. Right now, after seeing the Mississippi State football team play this season, it’s hard to believe that all three of those will come true.

The Bulldogs do have a chance in this game. The defense should play at a level that will keep this game within reach. Mississippi State has also demonstrated that it can run the ball on anyone. But, given the fact that this offense is completely dilapidated when it comes to passing, there’s little hope that State could generate enough points to push this game over the total or beat the spread.

The Mississippi State football team’s best hope for this game is that it’ll turn into an ugly, defensive slugfest. Hopefully the Bulldogs could come out on top of that. A&M’s got a pretty good defense of its own this season.
