Mississippi State basketball season is set to start soon and the Harlem Globetrotters are in Starkville to help get things going.

It’s almost time for the 2018-2019 Mississippi State basketball season! As Bulldogs basketball is almost back, it’s officially time for Maroon Madness! For those that are unaware, Maroon Madness is the event that kicks off the next Mississippi State basketball season. It’s a free event that is open to everyone and introduces fans to the members of both the men’s and women’s teams.

This year, the Bulldogs are doing something special for Maroon Madness. To help make the event even more noteworthy, the Mississippi State Bulldogs are bringing in a fairly notable team to come play in Humphrey Coliseum tonight.

The Harlem Globetrotters will be in Starkville tonight to help get the 2018-2019 Mississippi State basketball season started.

From MSU’s official press release last week:

"Fans will also be treated to a performance by the Harlem Globetrotters, who are a “Worldwide icon, synonymous with family entertainment and great basketball skills. Founded in 1926, the Globetrotters have entertained more than 146 million fans in 123 countries around the world."

While the Globetrotters and the Bulldogs almost certainly aren’t going to face each other tonight, both groups are set on entertaining Mississippi State basketball fans as much as possible this evening.

This year’s Maroon Madness will be a great way to get the 2018-2019 season kicked off. And there’s plenty to be excited about with this coming season.

The women’s team is fresh off of back-to-back Final Four appearances and has a roster loaded with talent and potential. Vic Schaefer’s team is the media’s favorite to win the Southeastern Conference this season and there’s a great chance that the Bulldogs could actually win the SEC yet again.

Meanwhile, the men’s team brings back almost every single notable contributor from a season ago and is looking for a huge breakthrough season. The Bulldogs showed potential last year, but now it’s time for Ben Howland’s team to truly break through.
